Connected creativity

 Debate

For the past few weeks in Debate studies, we have been debating in groups of 3's against each other. Each period we got a different topics and groups, in which we had to write our reasons about that topic and then debate against the other team. I really enjoy debating as we get to state our opinions about that topic and try to persuade the judges and opponent.

Thoughts on our school starting a debating team?

My thoughts on our school starting a debating team next year are positive, I really enjoyed debating and would love to do it again.STRATUS: Senior A Debating Team Win MSDC

Forensics

 Footprint Analysis

In forensics we have been learning about evidence. Yesterday we did a bit on shoe/foot prints. We put paint on our shoes and put our shoes on paper to see our shoe/foot prints. We saw that there were different sizes(length & width), patterns, how worn out it is, etc. We also did an activity in which we had to try and match the shoe/footprints. The different variables helped us predict which shoe would be which.
There are lots of different types of evidence left behind at the crime scene, one type is called impressions. Impressions are patterns left after being on the surfaces or people at crime scenes.

One type of impressions evidence are 'Footprints'.

Foot or shoe prints can be left behind at the scene and can be transferred onto a surface or left just as an imprint.

Types of ways to predict more information about the foot/shoe print:

  • Patterns

  • Random damage

(Things like cracks, and cuts or a stone stuck in the bottom. )
  • How much wear/damage(wear characteristics - how much they have worn it(if it is worn out or something)

  • size

(It depends on the length and width of the shoe)

Can help us predict height and walking style.
