Electricity

 Circuits:

1. Series Circuit:

2.Parallel Circuit:

3. What is the difference between a series & parallel circuit?

- Series: In a series circuit all electrons pass through one path.

- Parallel: In a parallel circuit the electrons split ways, and go down to the different branches.

4. What is Voltage and current in a circuit?

- Voltage is how much energy the electrons carry.

- Current is how fast and slow the electrons move.

5. Explain why a string of Christmas tree lights would be parallel no series?

- Christmas tree light will not be series because the electrons will need to split off to different branches(lights) in the light.

Maori Language week task

 Kia Ora,

For maori language week, we did a task in which we had to create a splash page with words we could use when replying to "kei te pehea koe".

Below is the final product:

Physics

 Current Electricity:

1. What is the particle that moves in a wire?

The particle that moves in a wire are electrons. Electrons move from the negative end to the positive end.

2. If there is a high current in a circuit what does it mean?

If the current circuit flow gets too high it will melt the fuse. They are burning/ moving too fast.

3.How does electricity work to heat up a stove?

Electric energy transforms into heat energy and heats up the stove.

4. Where is DC electricity used? Where is AC electricity used?

- Direct Current(DC) is used in charging batteries, etc.

- Alternating Current(AC) is used in plugs, lights, etc.

Physics

 Static electricity

1. The particles that make up everything are Protons, Electrons and Neutrons.
- Protons have Positive charge.
-Electrons have negative charge.
-Neutrons have no charge.

2. It means it wants to have the same number of positives and negative.

3. Insulator does not pass electricity. If an Insulator passes on energy it is conducting( passing on electrons).

4. Example of static electricity.
-Rubbing a balloon on hair.
-Jumping on a trampoline.

The cay: Q and A

Chapter 12-13 - Q&A

1. Timothy and Phillip have been on the cay for forty-eight days.
2. Phillip puts a wet cloth on Timothy's fore head and gives timothy water.
3. Phillip is ready to climb the coconut tree because he is confident and willing to reach the top of the coconut tree. He wants to help Timothy and gather food.
4. I think that Timothy is trying to teach Phillip survival skills because timothy wants Phillip to be prepared for any situation that may occur, if Timothy is not there anymore.
5. I think the reason why Phillip asked Timothy if he is still black was because Phillips thoughts/opinion about Timothy had changed and so he thought that timothy was not black any more.

Health: discovery task

Effects of social media

In Health we were set a task that required us to to chose a task from the following options,
We were also given the option to work alone or in pairs. My pair was Emalea.
The topic that we choose was 'Effects of social media'.

The first thing we had to do after deciding on our topic, was to choose 6 big questions to answer.

After answering all the questions we had to create an activity from the following:
We chose to make an essay, we chose to do an essay because it was the most simplest way to show our work as we did not have lots of time left.

Below is the essay that Emalea and I created.

We have learned that the strategies, we have created/come up with are helpful to use if you would like to improve your wellbeing/wa hauora.

It was challenging when I could not think of an answer, or a easier way to explain my answer. I coped with the challenge by asking for help when stuck on how describe my answer. I worked well with Emalea, I believe she helps me not get distracted which makes me finish my work, at good(decent) quality and on time . Next time I will not get distracted by those around me. I am really proud of the work I have created with Emalea.

The Cay: do now

The Cay - Learn from home

Why is it difficult to live on a Cay?

I think that living on a cay would be a difficult thing because there won't be lots of resources, Compared to the current generation, the resources will be less advanced. Resources such as medicine, nutritious food, Clean drinking water, shelter to keep you decently warm or safe.  Living on a cay could be dangerous as we do not know what types of animals and harmful things exist there, because it an island there won't be a doctor to help you in need and you could get bitten by a living thing or touch a poisonous plant. Living on a cay is a task harder than it sounds, but I would still like to experience living on a cay. Living on a cay would be different from the life I live now.

P.O.V: living on the cay

Standing on the burning hot sand below me, It sure is a hot sunny day. looking in front, I see the vast, sparking, dark blue ocean, its waves, gently bumping into one another, forming movements in the ocean. I turn around to see the scenery behind me. I see the trees, mountain hills, By every mean all I see is green. The trees sway and suddenly I smell the heat of the day with a tint of salty ocean, although its a very, VERY hot day I seem to be enjoying the nice, hot feeling. I hear the rustling of the trees and the ocean waves, the light movements and then the caw, caw of the big birds. I look above me, the light blue sky, just makes me blush or maybe the sun right in the middle of the cloudless sky, it feels nice... really nice.

Langosta: week 5 do now

Langosta

Langosta is a lobster without claws.

What langostas could help with if stuck on an island?

If stuck on an island, eating langosta is a way to stop hunger, drinking its water after it is cooked and its shell could be used as a small cup to drink easily from.
